Classic Car Watch
More Convertibles Than Expected
July 1, 2010
By Scott Lewis
This month was almost an all Harwell Motor Company month. But one car from Holt slipped in. We have a Corvair and a couple of Mustangs from my short list. And a strange this happened this month... I saw a few convertible worth looking into.
1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza - $9,900
Description: Harwell Motors is proud to offer an
extremely clean 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza. This car has a great
running 110 HP engine, automatic transmission, working AC, bucket seats,
spare and jack, 8 track radio, factory hub caps with white walls, and
more. The body is very clean with nice paint. Interior is also in
excellent shape and looks like new.

Comments: One form my short list. The oddball classic.
The A/C just makes this car special. It gets might hot in South Central
Texas. I could see myself driving this car every day. It's almost
perfect. Just a decent stereo would be all that i would add. O.K., and
maybe a nice set of wheels and tires too.
1966 Ford Mustang - $8,900
Description: Harwell Motors is proud to offer this
1966 Ford mustang coupe. This car has a great running 6 cyl, automatic
transmission, cold Air conditioning, bucket seats, CD player and more.
The body is straight with nice paint. The vehicles interior looks to be
original with some wear on the pass seat but overall very presentable.

Comments: This is a great starter classic. The 6
cylinder with automatic would make this car easy for my sons to learn to
drive. The black on black might be an issue... but we have air
conditioning. I am so very temped to call and finance this one. But... I
can't do that. Maybe next year. In fact, this is exactly what I want to
find next summer.
1968 Ford Mustang GT J code - $12,900
Description: Harwell Motors is proud to offer a
factory 1968 Ford Mustang J code. This car has the original 302, factory
AC, tilt away wheel, upper and lower console, factory power steering,
factory power disc brakes, original wheel covers, C4 automatic
transmission, Deluxe interior, remote mirror, black vinyl top, and more.
This car is documented with the marti report and is optioned now as it
came from the factory. This car is very solid and very clean. If you are
looking for a rare, highly optioned GT mustang then look no further.

Comments: Another car from the short list. I am not
thrilled with the black dtrips on the hood. Other than that this car is
nearly perfect. The A/C is the cincher for me. I could cruise in this
all day long.
1967 Buick Skylark Convertible - $10,900
Description: Harwell Motors is proud to offer a 1967
Buick Skylark convertible. This car has a great running matching #s 300,
automatic transmission, bucket seats with console, console tach, tilt
wheel, power top, rally wheels, AM radio, and more. This car looks great
and turns heads every where it goes. Body is straight with nice driver
quality paint. The trunk has a small rust hole that can easily be
repaired but other wise looks good. Interior looks to be original and
shows very well.

Comments: This is a classic case of find a car I would
never go looking for. I don't even like the Skylark in this year. But
this car is clean and grabs you attention. And the price grabs my
attention. When other cars get too expensive it's nice to know there are
still affordable classics that can be enjoyed... by driving them.
1968 Chevrolet Impala Convertible - $9,900
Description: Harwell Motors is proud to offer a
numbers matching 1968 Chevrolet Impala convertible. This car has the
original 327, automatic transmission, power steering, custom wheels,
bench seat, and more. This car runs and drives great making it a perfect
affordable cruiser. The interior looks to be original and shows well.
The top is shot but does have the glass back window that is still in
good shape.

Comments: We are just full of big convertibles this
month. I assure you it was not planned. They say the top is shot. We
would have to see that. But if the rest of the car checks out... AND you
don't plan on driving with the top up... this could be a nice, big
convertible cruiser. Oh, and those wheels have got to go!
1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Convertible - $12,900
Description: Harwell Motors is proud to offer a
matching numbers 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass S convertible. This car has a
great running matching 350, automatic transmission, rare power locks and
windows, power top, factory wheels, power steering, power disc brakes,
working AC and more. The body is solid with driver quality paint and is
a real head turner. It runs and drives great with excellent power.

Comments: Here is another car i would not search for.
But look at what it has... A/C, power windows, power locks, power top.
These are things we take for granted today... yet this car had them 40
years ago. How cool is that. And you will need that A/C with a black on
black car in Texas.
1968 Buick GS 350 - $11,900
Description: Harwell Motors is proud to offer a 40k
original mile real 1968 Buick GS 350. This car is documented with
original window sticker, warranty book with protecto-plate, original
owners manual, and accessories pamphlet. This car is loaded with
matching original 350 4v 280 hp, 4 way power driver seat, bucket seats
with console, power steering, power brakes, AM/FM radio with rear
speaker, factory tissue dispenser, dual remote mirrors, black vinyl top
and more. This car is very original and drives like a new car. Interior
is in excellent shape and all original. If you are looking for a rare,
documented, low miles, original car then look no further

Comments: Now we're talking. A low mileage, unmolested
car for an affordable price. Too bad it doesn't have the Ram Air hood.
Notice the options. This was a nicely equipped car in its day. Power
seats! How often do you see that in a car over 40 years old?
1974 Chevrolet Malibu - $11,995
Description: Take a look at this 1974 Chevelle Malibu Classic with only 9,651 ACTUAL miles. This totally original Chevelle Malibu Classic is basically untouched right down to the original Uniroyal Polyglass narrow white wall tires. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes, saddle colored vinyl top, factory AM radio, vinyl interior with a front bench seat with fold down arm rest, full size spare tire and jack, rear view mirrors both sides with the drivers mirror inside remote controlled and the original owners manual.

Comments: Here is another low mileage car. Ultra low
mileage as a matter of fact. 1973-77 Chevelles/Malibus are significantly
less desirable than the ones from 72 on back. But if you an a classic
this qualifies. Personally, I think this car is overpriced. But a car is
worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. One the TV Show
Muscle Car (on Spike) they are doing a build up of a 73 Buick. This car
fits that same mold.. but 12 grand for a project car... especially an
orphaned car like this... is a bit much. I like the idea of taking this
car and making it cool. But it would have to sell for a lot less to get
me to tackle such a project.
